The Lion and the Clever Rabbit
Once upon a time, there was a cruel lion who lived in a forest. Every day, he hunted and killed many animals, not just for food but also for fun. The animals were afraid that soon none of them would be left alive.
One day, they decided to make an agreement with the lion. They promised to send him one animal every day as his meal, so he would stop hunting. The lion agreed, but he warned them not to break the promise.
When it was the rabbit’s turn, he thought of a clever plan to save the forest. The rabbit walked slowly and arrived late at the lion’s den. The lion was angry and roared loudly. “Why are you late?” he shouted.
The rabbit bowed and said, “Forgive me, my lord. On the way, another lion claimed to be the king of this forest. He challenged you and said he was stronger than you.”
Hearing this, the lion became furious. “Take me to him!” he demanded. The rabbit led the lion to a deep well and said, “The lion lives inside.” When the cruel lion looked into the well, he saw his own reflection in the water. Thinking it was his rival, he jumped in and drowned.
From that day on, the animals lived peacefully, thanks to the clever rabbit.
